Adopt a Northern White Rhino

With a northern white rhino adoption, you will support the safety and security of the last two northern white rhinos, Najin and Fatu, on the planet at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya and species ambassador Sudan in memoriam.

From just £5 a month, a northern white rhino adoption also makes a fantastic gift for your friends, loved ones, relatives or colleagues.

Choose your adoption from our three northern white rhinos below:

FATU

Fatu was translocated to Ol Pejeta from Dvur Kralove Zoo in the Czech Republic in December 2009. It was hoped that Fatu would breed naturally, but that has not been the case. She is now enjoying a peaceful life on the conservancy with her mother Najin. You can adopt Fatu to support her safety and security.

NAJIN

Najin was translocated to Ol Pejeta from Dvur Kralove Zoo in the Czech Republic in December 2009. It was hoped Najin would mate successfully once on African soil but all attempts have been unsuccessful and science is now viewed as the best hope to maintain the northern white gene pool. You can adopt Najin to support her safety and security.

SUDAN

Sudan, the last known male northern white rhino in the world, passed away of age-related complications at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya on 19th March 2018. A great ambassador for his species you can adopt Sudan in memoriam where funds raised will be used to help develop the northern white rhino IVF programme.

ADOPT A NORTHERN WHITE RHINO

Help our work with Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya who care for the last two northern white rhinos on the planet. From just £5 a month a northern white rhino adoption also makes a fantastic gift for your friend, loved one, relative or colleague.

ABOUT THE NORTHERN WHITE RHINO

Northern white rhinos – the rarest mammal in the world – are down to the last two members of their species. Najin and Fatu – mother and daughter – reside together on Ol Pejeta, after the death of Sudan, the last male northern white rhino who sadly passed away in March 2018. There were four northern white rhinos at Ol Pejeta (including a male, Suni, who passed away of natural causes in 2014) translocated to Kenya from Dvur Kralove Zoo in the Czech Republic in December 2009 and now the two females are the only known northern white rhinos left in the world.

When you adopt a northern white rhino you will receive a certificate, fact sheets and photo of your rhino, plus regular updates on their progress.

YOUR ADOPTION REALLY DOES HELP RHINOS

You can help care for the last two northern white rhinos by adopting them or adopt in memory of Sudan’s legacy., As well as their day to day care your Adoption will support the ground-breaking research that could bring this species back from the brink of extinction. Research is being carried out to find a way to reproduce a northern white rhino calf using in vitro fertilisation (IVF). It is not a simple task, and it is certainly expensive.

When you adopt a Northern White Rhino, you will be helping with:

  • Honouring Sudan’s legacy and supporting the scientific research being carried out to create future northern white rhino calves using in vitro fertilisation (IVF)
  • Providing 24/7 armed protection of the last two Northern White Rhinos in the world
  • Providing supplementary feed to maintain a healthy diet
  •  Creating a safe and natural habitat for the rhinos on Ol Pejeta

A small percentage of your adoption will be used to cover administration and operating costs.
